Footwear workshop took a place in Beita – center of art in Jerusalem, Israel.
Participants were taken through all the process of design and shoemaking of classic “Derby” shoe. From paper patterns to actual hand shoemaking. At the end each of them walked out in own pair of shoes in “stitch down” construction.
It has been already fifth workshop in Israel and another one is planned for October 2018 !
(“Derby” shoe is also called “Gibson”. It is a style of shoe characterized by quarters with shoelace eyelets that are sewn on top of the vamp. This construction method, also known as “open lacing”, contrasts with that of the “Oxford”.)
